As we step into the second half of 2024, our LaserPecker Design Space (PC Software 2.6.1 & App 5.6.1) is here for you. This major release includes 6 significant new features, along with various additions and improvements.
We invite you to preview and try the latest version:
1. Advanced engraving workflow (App only, compatible with LP4/LP5)
Compared to the previous regular engraving workflow, we've designed and added an advanced engraving workflow to meet more professional needs.
You can access and select between regular and advanced engraving workflow on the upgraded LDS App.
With this new workflow, you will have full control over each design element. You can set different parameters for individual elements, rearrange the engraving order by dragging and dropping layers, and even group elements to apply shared parameters.
Set Unique Parameters for Each Layer
Each layer can be configured with different power, speed, frequency, and even different laser sources.
Grouping Multiple Layers
You can select multiple layers and group them to apply the same parameters. This allows you to easily manage and make changes to multiple elements within a project. It speeds up your workflow if you are doing material tests, or in some complex cases requiring frequent parameter adjustments.
Rearrange Engraving Sequence
The engraving sequence for each element (layer) can be adjusted by dragging layers up or down. The engraver will follow this order to engrave from the top to the bottom layer.
2. Variable text (App and PC, compatible with LP4/LP5)
The variable text feature allows you to insert dynamic elements into your project that change based on the context for different purposes, such as serialization, date/time stamping, or data merging. If you perform the job repeatedly, the variable content will be updated accordingly.
Variable text can be used for a variety of purposes:
- Date or time stamps
- Serial numbers (as well as QR codes, barcodes)
- Merging text or Excel files (.txt, .xls) directly into your designs
You can also concatenate fixed text with variable elements.
For example:
If you perform multiple files for batch processing, the variable content in the job will be updated automatically.
3. Real-time preview for multiple vector files (App and PC, compatible with LP5 only)
After enabling the contour preview option in the settings, you can preview multiple vector files in real-time simultaneously. This allows you to decide the position of each individual vector file without having to perform the entire test engraving.
4. 3D grayscale embossing (App and PC, compatible with LP5 only)
It now supports importing grayscale images and generating .lpb files for 3D engraving. Each pixel in a grayscale image carries a brightness value ranging from 0 (black) to 255 (white), with 254 levels of gray in between.

The imported grayscale image can be further processed by selecting specific ranges of layers and adjusting each layer height from 0.01 mm.
5. One-click engraving with USB flash drive (App and PC, compatible with LP5 only)
The new version now offers a convenient one-click engraving workflow using a USB flash drive. You can export your .lpb project files directly to a USB flash drive from the LDS PC software. Then, by inserting the USB flash drive containing the exported .lpb files into the LP5 machine, you can easily select the desired file, preview the design, and start the engraving process with just one click.
6. Metal cutting (App and PC, compatible with LP5 only)
A new processing type is added as 'Metal Cut'. This feature is in addition to the existing 'Cut' option for metal cutting. With the regular 'cut' function, you can still perform standard metal cutting. However, the new Metal Cutting mode gives you an alternative helical cutting technique that can help improve the overall quality and precision of your metal engraving and cutting projects on the LP5.
This advanced processing type is particularly useful when you require superior edge definition and a cleaner, more polished final result for your metal workpieces.
Please note that the 'Metal Cut' option may take a longer cutting time compared to the standard 'Cut' function.
