In this article, we'll introduce you to the Safety Enclosure camera features and usages.
Precaution before Using the Camera Functions
1. Ensure that the processing area is well-lit. Insufficient ambient light can result in poor snapshot quality.
2. Place a diffuse material (e.g., black cardstock) behind the material to be engraved to improve snapshot quality. Meanwhile, ensure the background color contrasts with the material to be engraved for better camera recognition.

3. Do not use materials that are highly reflective or overly thick, as the camera may fail to recognize the processing area. Avoid hollow materials or those with tangles or complex shapes. Ensure the material has a uniform height to minimize recognition issues.
4. Leave at least 2 mm of space between each piece of material to help the camera distinguish them easily.
5. Arrange all materials in the same direction to ensure consistent engraving results, especially for batch engraving.
Feature 1: Smart Fill
What is smart fill?
Smart Fill is a key feature of the camera inside the LaserPecker Safety Enclosure. It uses advanced visual recognition algorithms to automatically apply a single design to multiple materials for batch engraving.
How to use the Smart Fill?
Way 1: Via LDS PC Software
Step 1: Adjust the Focal Length
Set the correct focal length for engraving.
Step 2: Take a Snapshot
Find the “Refresh” icon in the “Processing” section. Then click the “Refresh” icon to take a snapshot with the camera.
Step 3: Prepare the Engraving Area
Place a diffuse material (like black cardstock paper) on the Base Plate. Then put all the materials to be engraved on top of the diffuse material.
Step 4: Adjust the Design
Modify the design's position and layout as needed to match your engraving requirements
Step 5: Activate Smart Fill
Select your design and click the “Fill Now” button to apply the design across all materials.
Step 6: Set Engraving Parameters
Input all necessary engraving parameters, then begin engraving.
Way 2: Via LDS App
Step 1: Adjust the Focal Length
Set the correct focal length for engraving.
Step 2: Capture a Snapshot
Tap "Refresh" to let the camera take a snapshot of the objects in the processing area.
Select your design and tap the “Fill Now” button to apply the design across all materials.
Step 6: Set Engraving Parameters
Input all necessary engraving parameters, then begin engraving.
Feature 2: Outline Extraction
What is Outline Extraction?
The Outline Extraction feature detects and extracts the outline of an image captured by the camera, similar to the "Trace Image" function
How to use the Outline Extraction?
Way 1: Via LDS PC Software
Step 1: Adjust the Focal Length
Ensure the focal length is set correctly for the engraving process.
Step 2: Capture a Snapshot
Click “Refresh” icon in the “Processing” section, then the camera will take a snapshot of objects placed in the processing area.
Step 3: Prepare the Engraving Area
Place a diffuse material (like black cardstock paper) on the Base Plate. Then put all the materials to be engraved on top of the diffuse material.
Step 4: Extract the Outline
Click “Outline Extraction” to generate the outline of the image.
External factors, such as lighting, can cause stray lines in the outline. Manually delete any unwanted lines and keep only the necessary contours.
