How to Check If Your Mac Is a M1/M2 Series Chip Or an Intel Chip?

This information is required before downloading the latest LDS. Please refer to the following instructions for details:

 

Step 1

On a Mac, tap the Apple icon in the upper-left corner of the menu bar to open the menu.

 

Step 2

Click to enter the [About this machine] option.

Click About This Mac

 

Step 3

Then, you can see the processor/chip in the pop-up window. See the image below.

  • If you see an Intel processor in the Processors section, you're using a Mac with an Intel chip.

  • If you see the Apple M1 (or later) in the Chips section, you're using a Mac with an Apple Silicon CPU.

Step 4

You can find more specific information about your Mac by clicking [System Report...]. As shown below:

Please check your Mac's chip before downloading LDS. Click to jump to download the address.

If your Mac has Intel chips, click [For Intel chips] to download.

If your Mac has an Apple chip (M1/M2), click [For Apple Silicon] to download.
