Operating LaserPecker LX1 with LightBurn

If you need to control LaserPecker LX1 through LightBurn, please download the official version of LightBurn software. LightBurn is a third-party software, Hixing Technology Co., Ltd. will not be responsible for any loss caused by using LightBurn.
The firmware of LaserPecker LX1 has been tested in detail by the official team, but there may still be software or hardware incompatibility. For errors caused by incompatibility, you can contact our after-sales team for technical support.
 

1.LightBurn-software download and configuration

  • Go to https://lightburnsoftware.com/pages/trial-version-try-before-you-buy to download LightBurn and follow the installation instructions to install the software. The full version of LightBurn is free to try for 30 days.
  • After your 30-day free trial period is over, users will need a license to continue using LightBurn. When the trial period ends, the system will prompt you to enter the license key to continue using the software.
  • To purchase a license to obtain a key code, go to the LightBurn Online Store and select "GCode License Key". Make sure you only buy the "GCode License Key" as it is the only version compatible with LX1. https://lightburnsoftware.com/collections/frontpage
  • After purchasing a license, you will receive an email from LightBurn with a key code and activation instructions.
 
Note: The latest version of LightBurn and GCode licence key are absolutely essential. Other types of software and licence key are not compatible. If you happen to purchase the wrong software, please contact LightBurn directly for help.
 
Before configuring LaserPecker LX1, please download the configuration file:
 
LX1 general mode:
LaserPecker_LX1.lbdev
 
LX1 MAX general mode:
LaserPecker_LX1_MAX.lbdev
 
LX1 with rotary extension:
LaserPecker_LX1_Rotation.lbdev
 
Note: The current firmware version of LX1 compatible with LightBurn is V7009 or higher. If your firmware version is below V7009, please update to version 7009!
 

How to update LX1 firmware online

Online upgrade path:
APP Connect Machine > Machine Settings > Firmware Version > Click 700X to upgrade
 

 

1.1 Open LightBurn and Turn on the Device

Please follow the instructions below to import the configuration file instead of choosing “Import Preferences” on the menu, otherwise your original software configuration will be overwritten.

 

1.1.1 After a New Installation or Reinstallation of LightBurn

Open LightBurn and a window for adding new device will pop up as shown below:
If the above window appears, you can proceed with the steps in 1.2 Import Configuration File.
 

1.1.2 Adding a New Device in LightBurn

To add a new device in LightBurn, click “Devices” as shown below and then follow the steps in 1.2.

 

1.2 Import Configuration File

Click “Import” to import “LaserPecker_LX1.lbdev” to LightBurn:
 
 

1.3 Connect the Device

Once the file has been imported, LaserPecker LX1 or LaserPecker LX1 MAX will show up in the drop-down menu.
 
 
Click “Console” on the right side to display the console window.
 
 
After connecting via the USB cable, you need to choose the correct COM port for the external device connected to the computer. LightBurn can not automatically identify the corresponding COM port of LX1 devices, please try by yourself.
The device model and version of the device that is successfully connected will be displayed in the console window when choosing the correct COM port. (If the device information does not show up, please check the COM port.)
 
 

1.4 Rotary Setup

For rotary engraving with the rotary extension, you need to import the configuration file “LaserPecker_LX1_Rotation.lbdev” and check whether the corresponding setting is enabled.
 
 
Open the settings, enter the diameter of the engraved object and click “OK”.
 

 

1.5 Set the Absolute Coordinates

 
You should set the absolute coordinates in the top left corner. If not, you can change the settings by following the instructions below.
 
 
Once set up, it should be as shown in the figure. The green dot should be positioned in the top left corner of the workspace as shown below.
 
 
Note：The current position option is only used to switch the position of the absolute coordinates. You should switch to the absolute coordinates option at last.
 

2.Parameter Setting

2.1 Set the Units/Grids

Click “Settings” as shown.
 
Choose “mm/min” in Units/Grids.
 
 

2.2 Parameter Interface

Click “Cuts/Layers”, and select the corresponding layer. Double-click the left mouse button to open the parameter setting interface.
 

 

2.3 Settings

You can also set the parameters in the lower right corner of the Cuts/Layers window. For more settings of the layer, please double-click to open the parameter interface.
 
 

3. Preview and Engraving

3.1 Preview

Click “Move”, then set the power to 0.25% and click “Fire”.
 
 
Select the elements for preview and click “□ Frame” or “○ Frame”.
 
 
LX1 will then start the range preview.
 

3.2 Engraving and Reset

Click “Start” to start engraving.
 
 
You can pause or stop engraving half way. Click “Stop” to end engraving and reset the device.
 
 
When using a rotary extension, you need to click “Rotation” to re-connect with the rotary extension after reset.
 

 

4. Troubleshooting pop-up notification

4.1 A Pop-up Window Notifying “Out of Bounds” Appears and No Reaction after Choosing to Continue Engraving/cutting

 
Solution:
Put your design in the center of the workspace. Retry the engraving/cutting operation as shown below.
 
 
 
If it is not easy to be adjusted, or the operation fails to work, you may decrease the percentage of overscanning or lower the speed.
  1. Click “Cuts/Layers” and double-click the entry for settings.
 
2. Adjust the overscanning percentage or the speed, as shown in the figure.
 
 
Instead of lowering the overscanning percentage and speed simultaneously, you can make separate adjustment.。
 
3.Restart the cutting/engraving operation after confirming the adjustment.
 

4.Correspondence Chart of LaserPecker&LightBurn Parameters

  • The light yellow chart shows the parameter equivalence between LaserPecker mobile application and LightBurn.
  • The power settings of 1%-100% in the mobile application/PC software is equal to that of 1-100 in LightBurn.
  • The depth of 1%-100% in mobile application/PC software is equal to the speed of 12,000 mm/min-120 mm/min in LightBurn (the higher the depth, the lower the speed).
  • The dark yellow chart shows the minimum and maximum parameters when operating LX1 with LightBurn.
