In this article, we'll guide you through the steps for Camera Network Configuration and show you how to troubleshoot camera connection issues if the camera can't be found.
#1 Why Camera Network Configuration is Necessary?
Configuring the camera network ensures that the laser unit and camera are connected to the same network, enabling seamless communication and activating all camera functions.
#2 How to Configure Camera Network?
The Camera network configuration is only available in the LDS app.
Step 1: Connect your LP machine to a network
Launch the LaserPecker Design Space App and tap the "+" icon located in the upper right corner. Then, choose the "LP5" machine model and select the laser unit that you wish to connect to.
Enter the Wi-Fi password (to prevent input errors, we recommend enabling password preview), then click Next and wait for the network to be successfully configured (the Laser Unit indicator will be a solid blue when the connection is successful).
When successful, the Laser Unit indicator will turn solid blue, and the app will return to the home screen.
Step 2: Set up the network for the camera
Make sure your LP machine is connected to a network. Tap “Create” to enter the creation screen. Then click "Camera Snapshot" to set up the network for the camera.
Meanwhile, Press and hold the camera button on the Safety Enclosure for 3 seconds until the indicator light blinks slowly, which means the camera is ready for network configuration (If the indicator on the Safety Enclosure is already blinking slowly, you can skip this step)
On the “Select Wi-Fi” screen, you need to choose the Wi-Fi network used for your LP machine and enter the password again.
Step 3: Connect your phone to the Camera's Hotspot
Follow the on-screen instructions and tap “Open Wi-Fi Settings”. Connect your phone to the camera's hotspot (named LP-CAM-****).
In this step, LDS will disconnect from the machine. Don't worry, this is normal. We'll reconnect LDS to the machine using the previous Wi-Fi network in step 4.
Go back to the LDS home screen. If the camera's indicator light is solid white, then the camera network configuration is complete. If not, try again or troubleshoot possible issues.
Step 4: Reconnect your LP machine to the previous network
After setting up the camera, reconnect your phone to your original Wi-Fi network and reconnect the LP machine to the same network.
Now, the camera network setup process is complete
If the camera network setup was previously completed and you press and hold the camera button again, the camera will enter network configuration mode. In this case, features related to the camera may display, but they won't work properly. To resolve this, close and relaunch the app, then set up the camera network again.
*How can you check if your camera is available on the LDS app?
Once the camera network configuration is complete and the machine is reconnected to the previous network, you can select a suitable camera template. After choosing a camera template, tap "Refresh" to take a snapshot with the camera. If the snapshot appears on the LDS canvas, the camera is successfully connected. If not, you may need to troubleshoot the camera network setup or reconfigure the network for the camera.
*How can you check if your camera is available on the LDS PC software?
First, set up the camera network via the LDS app. Then, connect your LP machine and PC to the same Wi-Fi network as the camera.
If "Processing" appears in the bottom-right corner of the PC software, the connection between the LDS PC software and the camera is successfully established.
Ensure your PC, LP machine, and camera are connected to the same network.
You can now choose a camera template and click the “Refresh” icon to take a snapshot. If the snapshot appears on the LDS canvas, the camera is successfully connected.
Once the camera network is set up, the camera will remember the Wi-Fi it's connected to. So, you won't need to reconfigure the network for future use.
#3 No Camera Found - Troubleshoot Camera connection issues
Issue Description:
After powering on the LP machine and connecting to LDS, the camera isn't detected.
Steps to troubleshoot "No Camera Found"
Step 1: Ensure the machine's firmware version is V8.0.2 or later. (The camera cannot be detected with earlier firmware versions.)
Step 2: Check whether the current network signal is stable and strong.
Step 3: Check whether the mobile device and the machine are on the same wireless network.
Step 4: Unplug both USB cables from the machine and reconnect them to different USB ports and check if communication is restored.
Step 5: If the camera still can't be found, try to use a new USB-C cable to connect the LP machine and the Safety Enclosure.
Step 6: Check for loose or damaged USB ports. If there is a problem with the hardware please contact us via support@laserpecker.com for further testing and repair.
On iOS devices, if the LDS app runs in the background, the connection to the machine (including the camera) will stop. This is caused by your phone system. To resolve this, reopen the LDS app and reconnect it to your machine.
