Problem Description
Under normal operation, the LP2 Plus's dual red dots will overlap when the machine reaches the optimal engraving focal distance, at which point engraving can proceed normally.
If the dots fail to overlap at the engraving focal distance (as shown in the illustration below), follow this guide for troubleshooting recommendations.
Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1
- Connect your LP2 Plus to the LaserPecker Design Space App.
Step 2
- Click "Creation", then tap the ⚙ button in the top right corner of the canvas to open the Mode Settings page.
- In Mode Settings, activate the "Red Dots always on" feature.
Step 3
- Place the stainless steel sheet or other type of metal sheet in the center of the Base Plate.
Adjust the height of the Electric Stand, ensuring the vertical distance between the machine's field lens and the object surface is 150 mm.
Metal surfaces typically have a higher reflectivity, which can create clearer red dots. This allows users to make the two red dots coincide more accurately.
Step 4
Use a H1.5mm hex key to adjust the two screws at the bottom of the Laser Unit until the two laser dots overlap. Once it is done, the calibration is complete.
Additional Notes
1. Movement Directions of the Calibration Screws
The two calibration screws control the same red dot (the brighter one).
Inner Set Screw (Vertical Calibration):
- Clockwise rotation: Red dot moves downward.
- Counterclockwise rotation: Red dot moves upward.
Outer Set Screw (Horizontal Calibration):
- Clockwise rotation: Red dot moves to the right.
- Counterclockwise rotation: Red dot moves to the left.
2. The Red Dot Does Not Move During Calibration
Due to the limited adjustable range of the red dots, if the red dot does not move during calibration, it is usually caused by the following two situations:
- The set screw is fully tightened: The set screw has been screwed to the limit of the adjustment stroke and cannot be further screwed in the forward direction.
- The set screw is excessively loose: The set screw has detached from its normal adjustment position due to looseness and may be about to fall off.
If either of the above situations occurs, please slowly turn the set screw in the reverse direction until the red dot moves.
