The following tutorial provides a guide to leveling the LP2 Plus to ensure optimal laser performance and engraving quality.
1. Always be mindful when handling or transporting the LP2 Plus Laser Unit. Disconnect the power when making adjustments and take care not to touch or damage the lens.
2. A gradienter (carpenter's level) is required for the following procedure. It is not included in the LP2 Plus toolbox.
Problem Description
After extended use, some parts may loosen, which can result in uneven engraving patterns. Should this occur, it is recommended to follow the steps below to check the status of the machine.
Step 1
Make sure the Laser Unit is secured firmly to the Electric Stand bracket by turning the knob.
Step 2
Place the machine on a clean flat surface. Then place the bubble level on the Base Plate and on the Laser Unit respectively to check if both are level.
Step 3
If either the Base late or the Laser Unit is found unlevel, refer to Section LP2 Plus Leveling for adjustment to restore and maintain the leveling accuracy of the Laser Unit, ensuring optimal engraving results.
LP2 Plus Leveling
Level Forward to Back
Place the bubble level vertically on top of the Laser Unit and observe the bubble position:
- If the bubble shifts upward, use the hex key to tighten the center set screw beneath the support plate clockwise until the bubble is centered.
| The vertical-moving direction of the level bubbles | ||
| The Front screw | Clockwise rotation↓ | Counterclockwise rotation↑ |
| Two rear screws | Clockwise rotation↑ | Counterclockwise rotation↓ |
If adjusting the center screw does not work and the bubble still shifts upward, treat the left and right screws as one adjustment unit. Using the hex key, turn the left set screw counter-clockwise while simultaneously turning the right screw counter-clockwise. Repeat the adjustment and observation until the bubble is centered.
Level Right to Left
After adjusting the level vertically, place the level horizontally on top of the Laser Unit and check whether the bubble is centered:
- If the bubble shifts to the right, use a 2.0 hex key to tighten the left screw beneath the support plate clockwise until the bubble is centered.
- If the bubble shifts to the left, turn the left screw counterclockwise instead.
| The horizontal-moving direction of the level bubbles | ||
| The right screw | Clockwise rotation← | Counterclockwise rotation→ |
| The left screw | Clockwise rotation→ | Counterclockwise rotation← |
Verify LP2 Plus Level Balance
Place the level both horizontally and vertically on the front end of the Laser Unit, the rear end beneath the handle, as well as on the four corners and the center of the Base Plate. Observe in sequence whether the bubble is centered:
- If all positions are centered, the balance adjustment of the Laser Unit is complete.
- If not, adjust again on different level surfaces as needed, or return to the section LP2 Plus Leveling to readjust the balance of the Laser Unit.
