Using Air Assist with LX2

  • Updated

The Air Assist accessory plays an important role in processing materials. It is connected to the Laser Module and can blow air towards the surface of the processed material. It helps reduce scorch marks on the cutting edge, keep the laser protective lens clean, and minimize the frequency of cleaning the Laser Module.

1. Install the Air Assist Accessory

(1) Ensure that the LaserPecker LX2 power is turned off, and use the included Mini USB data cable to connect the Air Assist to the Mini USB port on the back of the LX2 machine.

(2) Insert the air tube into both the Air Assist and the LX2 machine.

The Air Assist also supports an independent power supply via a 24V/2.5A power adapter.

2. Automatic Mode

The Air Assist accessory has four speed levels: 1, 2, 3, and 4 (MAX), corresponding to 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% air volume, respectively.

When the control knob is turned to AUTO, the indicator light turns green, and the air assist enters automatic mode. In this mode, the Air Assist will start blowing only when the machine is processing material, and it will automatically adjust to the appropriate speed level according to the power parameters.

When using the 1064nm 2W Laser Module, the Air Assist's automatic mode will not blow air during the processing.

3. Manual Mode

Turning the control knob to positions 1 to 4 will switch the Air Assist to manual mode, with the indicator light turning blue. The air flow rate adjusts according to the selected position. In this mode, the Air Assist will continue blowing air even when the machine is idle.

4. Turn Off the Air Assist

Turn the control knob to the OFF position, with the indicator light turning red. The Air Assist will turn off and stop blowing air.

5. Air Assist Maintenance

The Air Assist is equipped with a filter at the bottom to prevent debris from entering and causing blockages, thereby extending its lifespan. Users can periodically remove the bottom cover to clean the filter.

The filter can last for over 6 months in general. The lifespan may vary slightly depending on actual usage. If you do not notice a significant decrease in airflow, the filter can continue to be used.

How to Remove the Air Tube

The air tube is connected to the Air Assist via a pneumatic connector. By default, the connector is locked, so while the tube can be inserted, it cannot be removed by external force.

To disconnect the hose, simply press the black part of the connector with two fingers. This will unlock the connector, allowing the hose to be easily pulled out.
