This article provides a comprehensive guide on processing flat materials using the LaserPecker LX2. The maximum compatible material thickness depends on the accessories used with the LX2. Refer to the table below for the thickness limits of different accessory configurations:
| Accessory | Compatible Material Thickness |
|---|---|
| None | 0 – 45 mm |
| Cutting Slats | 0 – 22 mm |
| Riser Base | 16.5 – 150 mm |
| Riser Base + Flexible Fixture | 0 – 60 mm |
| Riser Base + Conveyor Feeder | 0 – 15 mm |
# When Using LDS PC
Step 1: Place the Materials
(1) Place the material on the Base Plate.
(2) Ensure the processing mode is set to "Base Plate Mode". If not, switch it in the Processing section on the right panel.
Step 2: Refresh the Camera Background
(1) Close the machine's protective cover.
(2) Click the camera icon in the top-right corner of the LDS software to Refresh Background. Wait for the software to display the actual processing area.
Make sure the camera protective film has been removed before refreshing the background.
Step 3: Set the Laser Focus
The LX2 Distance Sensor can automatically measure the distance between the laser and the material surface. Manual input is also supported. The device adjusts the laser to the optimal focal position according to the Distance parameter.
Automatic Measurement
(1) Click Auto Measure, move the cursor to the processing material, and left-click. Wait for the machine to complete the measurement.
(2) The measured distance will appear in the input box next to the Auto Measure icon.
Ensure the Distance Sensor is not extended before measurement.
Manual Measurement
(1) Position the Laser Module above the material manually, and measure the distance from the material surface to the bottom edge of the Laser Module using a ruler.
(2) Enter the measured value in the distance input box.
Tips
Change the unit (mm/inch) via the Settings page in the top-left main menu.
Step 4: Design the Processing Objects
(1) Use the left toolbar to create basic graphics, text, draw patterns, import images, or use software-provided cliparts. Example: select a clipart.
(2) Select the object on the canvas to activate the top editing toolbar. Adjust position, size, and angle as needed.
Step 5: Set Processing Parameters
(1) Select the object to be processed.
(2) Set the processing mode and parameters in the right panel.
Tips
For detailed instructions on setting and saving parameters, see the Configure & Save LX2 Processing Parameters documentation.
Step 6: Preview the Processing Area
(1) Click Preview at the bottom-right, then Start Preview. The Red Crosshair laser will outline the processing object, allowing you to preview the area on the material.
(2) Click End Preview after confirming accuracy. If the processing area is not accurate, you can adjust the material position or the processing object in the software canvas and then preview it again.
Step 7: Start Processing
(1) Click "Process" located at the bottom-right corner of the interface.
(2) In the processing preview screen, you can review a simulated processing path as well as the estimated processing time.
- Click the Play button in the lower-left corner to preview the toolpath simulation.
- During playback, red lines indicate the Laser Trajectory, while black-filled areas show the actual engraving regions. You may enable or disable the Laser Trajectory display as needed.
- Adjust the Playback Speed to control the animation rate.
- Use the zoom controls to magnify or reduce the view for closer inspection of details.
(3) Once confirmed, click "Process" again at the bottom-right corner to proceed.
(4) Ensure all covers of the LX2 are securely closed, then press the device’s physical button to begin processing.
