LX2 Laser Module Not Detected

  • Updated

🔍 Quick Check

In most cases, this issue is caused by one of the following:

  • The laser module cable is loose.
  • The cable is connected in the wrong orientation.
  • The cable is damaged.
  • The laser module is faulty.

Follow the troubleshooting steps below to identify the cause and restore normal operation.

Problem Description

When clicking the "Preview" or "Process" button in LDS, the software displays a "Laser Module Not Detected" error message, and the LX2 indicator light blinks yellow.

A blinking yellow indicator usually means that the LX2 host cannot communicate with the laser module.

What This Error Means

This error usually indicates that the LX2 host cannot establish communication with the laser module. The most common causes are a loose connection, incorrect cable orientation, a damaged cable, or a faulty laser module.

This issue may occur after transporting the machine, replacing the laser module, or reconnecting cables, as the connector may become loose or misaligned.

Step 1: Check the Laser Module Cable

Inspect the laser module cable for any visible signs of damage and ensure that both ends are firmly connected.

Try unplugging and reconnecting the cable completely.

If the laser module is detected after reconnecting the cable, no further troubleshooting is required.

Step 2: Verify the Connector Orientation

Different laser modules use different connector orientations. If the cable is inserted in the wrong direction, the laser module will not be detected.

Compare your connection with the examples below and make sure the connector notch is facing the correct direction.

20W / 40W / 60W (455nm Blue Laser)

The connector notch should face left.

2W (1064nm Infrared Laser)

The connector notch should face right.

After reconnecting the cable, reconnect the machine in LDS and check whether the laser module is detected.

Step 3 (Optional): Test with Another Laser Module

If you have access to another LX2 laser module, connect it to the machine and check whether it can be detected.

  • If the replacement module is detected normally, the original laser module may be faulty.
  • If neither module is detected, continue to the next step.

Step 4 (Advanced): Inspect the Motherboard Connection

Only perform this step if you are comfortable opening the machine housing.
Before proceeding, disconnect all cables, remove the Security Key, and ensure the machine is powered off.

(1) Use a H2.5 mm hex key to loosen all screws indicated by the red circles, then remove the protective cover.

(2) Check the connector highlighted by the red box for signs of damage or poor contact. Try unplugging and reconnecting the cable securely.

Reconnect the cable securely and test the machine again.
