LDS Can't Find LP4 Safeguard Through USB

Problem Description

After connecting the LP4 Safeguard to your computer via a USB cable, the device does not appear in the Device Connection list in LDS.

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1: Check the USB Cable and Computer USB Port

A faulty USB port or cable can prevent the device from being recognized.

  • Inspect the USB cable for loose connections. Try unplugging and re-plugging it.
  • Try a different USB cable and a different USB port on your computer.

Step 2: Check Computer Drivers

Missing or incorrectly installed drivers may prevent the machine from being recognized.

To check if the driver is installed:

(1) Connect the LP4 to your computer using the included USB cable.

(2) Right-click the Start button and open Device Manager.

(3) Expand Ports (COM & LPT) and look for USB-SERIAL CH340.

If the device is missing:

(1) Download and unzip the driver:

CH341SER-USB.zip

(2) Double-click the file to install the driver.

(3) Reconnect the LP4 and check if it is recognized.

Step 3: Connect LP4 to Another Computer

  • Connect the LP4 to a different computer to verify if it can be recognized.
  • This helps rule out any issue with your current computer.
