On LP5, the two red dots are used to indicate correct focus position. When the machine reaches optimal focus, the two red dots should fully overlap.
If the red dots are separated or misaligned even after focusing, follow this guide to recalibrate them.
Before You Start
Please make sure:
- The machine is powered on and connected to the LaserPecker Design Space App
- A metal sheet (stainless steel recommended) is placed on the base plate
Step-by-step Calibration
Step 1: Enter the device settings
- Open the LaserPecker Design Space App
- Go to any creation/project page
- Tap the Settings (⚙️) icon in the top-right corner
Step 2: Enable red dot visibility
In Mode Settings:
Turn on Red Dots Always On / Red Light Stay
This ensures both red dots are visible during calibration.
Step 3: Start calibration
Tap Start Calibration
The machine will enter calibration mode
Step 4: Position the material
Place a stainless steel or metal sheet at the center of the base plate
Adjust position so the red dots appear roughly within the material area
Step 5: Test Engraving
- Adjust the height of the Electric Stand so that the two red dots overlap as closely as possible.
- Tap Laser Engraving / Engrave. The machine will begin engraving a square on the metal sheet.
Step 6: Focus Optimization via Spark Intensity
Wear the protective cover or safety goggles before operating.
Slowly adjust the height of the Electric Stand upward or downward until the engraving sparks reach their highest intensity. Stop adjusting at this point, wait for the engraving process to complete, and then proceed to the next step.
Step 7: Laser Unit Fine Calibration
Using an H1.5 hex key, adjust the two set screws located at the bottom of the Laser Unit until the two red dots fully overlap. Once the red dots overlap, the calibration is complete.
Additional Notes
1. Movement Direction of the Calibration Screws
The two calibration screws both control the same red dot (the brighter red dot).
2. Calibration Screw Functions
Outer set screw (vertical calibration)
- Clockwise rotation: the red dot moves upward
- Counterclockwise rotation: the red dot moves downward
Inner set screw (horizontal calibration)
- Clockwise rotation: the red dot moves to the left
- Counterclockwise rotation: the red dot moves to the right
3. Red Dot Does Not Move During Calibration
Due to the limited adjustment range of the red dots, if the red dot does not move during calibration, it is usually caused by one of the following situations:
(1) The set screw is fully tightened
The screw has reached the limit of its adjustment range and cannot be tightened further.
(2) The set screw is excessively loose
The screw has loosened beyond its normal adjustment position and may be close to falling out.
Solution:
Slowly rotate the set screw in the opposite direction until the red dot begins to move, then continue calibration as instructed.
