Issue Description
After connecting a Mac computer to the LaserPecker LX2 via USB, internet access may become unavailable.
This issue does not occur on all macOS systems. If your internet connection remains normal after connecting the LX2 via USB, no action is required.
Cause Analysis
When connected via USB, the LaserPecker LX2 is recognized by macOS as an RNDIS/Ethernet network device.
In some cases, macOS automatically prioritizes this USB network connection over the existing Wi-Fi adapter, which can interrupt normal internet access. Solution: Adjust Network Service Order
To restore internet connectivity, adjust the macOS network service order so that Wi-Fi is always prioritized over the LX2 USB (RNDIS/Ethernet) connection.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Open Network Settings
- Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Select System Settings → Network.
- For macOS Monterey and earlier: System Preferences → Network.
- Alternatively, press Command + Space, then search for Network.
2. Open Service Order Settings
In the Network window:
- macOS Ventura and later: Click the More icon (…) in the bottom-right corner.
- macOS Monterey and earlier: Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the bottom-left corner.
- Select Set Service Order…
A window displaying all network services will appear.
3. Reorder Network Services
- Drag Wi-Fi to the top of the list.
- Move RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget (LX2 USB connection) below Wi-Fi.
- Click OK to save the order.
4. Apply Changes
- On macOS Monterey and earlier, click Apply.
- Confirm the changes when prompted.
Once completed, the system will prioritize Wi-Fi, and internet access should be restored while the LX2 remains connected via USB.
