LaserPecker machines are professional laser engraving tools designed for personal, commercial, and industrial use. To ensure safe operation, regulatory compliance, and consistent user responsibility, LaserPecker Design Space (LDS) and LaserPecker Design Space Beta (LDS Beta) now include LSO (Laser Safety Officer) Training & Certification.
This article explains:
- Why LSO Training is required
- How LSO works at the account level
- What this means for different LaserPecker models
- How to complete LSO without connecting to any device
Why Does LaserPecker Require LSO Training?
Laser engraving involves high-energy laser output that can pose risks if used improperly.
In many regions, especially within the European Union, manufacturers are required to:
- Ensure users understand basic laser safety principles,
- Provide documented safety education before machine operation,
- Restrict certain high-risk functions based on regulatory requirements.
LSO Training allows to:
- Promote safe and responsible use,
- Meet regional safety and compliance obligations,
- Protect users, workplaces, and surrounding environments.
This is not a “tutorial for beginners” — it is a professional safety requirement.
Important Clarification: LSO Is Account-Based, Not Device-Based
LSO Training and Certification are linked to your LaserPecker account, not to any specific machine.
This means:
- You can complete LSO before receiving your machine.
- You do NOT need to connect a device to complete LSO Training.
- Once completed, the status applies to all compatible LaserPecker machines you use with that account.
- LSO Certification is valid for 12 months. After expiration, users will be required to retake the certification to continue operating applicable devices in regulated regions.
How to Complete LSO Training (No Device Required)
You can complete LSO Training and (if applicable) the LSO exam by following these steps:
1. Open LaserPecker Design Space (LDS) on your PC or mobile device, or open LaserPecker Design Space Beta (LDS Beta) on your PC.
2. Ensure your device is connected to the internet.
3. Log in to your LaserPecker account.
4. Start the LSO Training when prompted, or through account center.
5. Complete the required learning and certification steps.
Regional Differences in LSO Requirements
LSO implementation varies by region due to local regulations.
Non-Regulated Regions:
- No LSO exam required.
- Full functionality available after basic safety learning.
Regulated Regions (EU & Switzerland):
- LSO certification is required before machine operation.
- Some functions (such as Free Mode and preview brightness adjustment) may remain restricted even after certification, due to hardware-level regulatory constraints.
These limitations are not related to your skill level, but to compliance requirements applicable to all users in these regions.
