LaserPecker machines offer multiple engraving modes and accessory-specific features designed for different materials and project requirements.
This guide explains the purpose of each mode, when to use it, and how to access it in the LaserPecker Design Space (LDS) App/Software.
🚀 Choosing the Right Engraving Mode
| Engraving Scenario | Recommended Mode/Function |
| Flat materials (wood, leather, acrylic sheets, paper, etc.) | Normal Mode |
| Cylindrical objects (tumblers, pens, cans, wooden dowels, etc.) | Cylinder Mode |
| Long flat materials | Slab Mode |
| Long continuous engraving projects (LP2 only) | Trolley Mode |
| Irregularly shaped rotating objects | Rotary Extension Mode |
| Large workpieces requiring an extended work area | Slide Extension Mode |
| Multiple designs engraved sequentially | Slide Extension Multi-File Mode |
| Repeating the same design on multiple items | Batch Engraving |
Accessing Engraving Modes in LDS
To access and switch engraving modes in LDS:
(1) Connect your LaserPecker machine to LDS.
(2) Click the ⚙️ Settings icon in the device information area.
(3) Select the desired engraving mode or function.
Normal Mode
Normal Mode is the default engraving mode and is suitable for most flat materials, including wood, leather, acrylic sheets, paper, cardboard, and similar materials.
Normal Mode is selected by default when no accessory mode is enabled.
Versatile Electric Roller Modes
The following modes are available when the Versatile Electric Roller is connected.
(1) Slab Mode
Use Slab Mode when engraving long flat materials that need to move through the roller during the engraving process.
Enable the Versatile Electric Roller and select Slab Mode in the mode settings.
(2) Cylinder Mode
Use Cylinder Mode for round objects such as tumblers, pens, cans, wooden dowels, and similar cylindrical items.
Enable the Versatile Electric Roller and select Cylinder Mode in the mode settings.
(3) Trolley Mode (LP2 Only)
Trolley Mode allows LP2 to engrave long continuous designs up to 2000 mm in length by moving along the material.
Enable the Versatile Electric Roller and select Trolley Mode in the mode settings.
Rotary Extension Mode
Use Rotary Extension Mode when engraving cylindrical or irregularly shaped objects with the Rotary Extension accessory.
Secure the object to the Rotary Extension, select Rotary Extension Mode, and enter the object's diameter at the engraving position.
Slide Extension Modes
Slide Extension Mode
Use Slide Extension Mode when engraving large workpieces that exceed the standard working area.
Slide Extension Multi-File Mode
Multi-File Mode allows the Slide Extension to automatically reposition the work area and engrave multiple designs sequentially.
This mode is useful for batch production workflows where different designs need to be engraved one after another without manual repositioning.
Additional Functions
(1) Free Mode
Safety Notice
Enable Free Mode only when the protective cover is not connected. Always wear appropriate laser safety goggles when operating the machine in Free Mode.
Free Mode allows previewing and engraving without a connected or fully closed protective cover.
When using a Safety Enclosure together with the Slide Extension, the enclosure door cannot be fully closed. In this case, both Slide Extension Mode and Free Mode must be enabled before engraving.
(2) Reverse Engraving
Supported on LP2 and LP3 only.
Reverse Engraving changes the engraving direction and can be useful when material placement or workspace setup requires engraving from the opposite direction.
(3) Batch Engraving
Connect the Batch Engraving Button via USB and enable Batch Engraving Mode.
After each engraving is completed, place the next item and press the button to repeat the same engraving task without resending the file.
