Problem Description
If your LX2 is unable to cut materials properly, experiences a significant drop in laser power, or produces unclear engravings with the 20W, 40W, or 60W 455 nm laser modules, follow the troubleshooting steps below. These steps help identify and resolve common issues related to cutting parameters, laser optics, airflow, and material handling.
1. Adjust Cutting Parameters
Purpose: Ensure the cutting settings are appropriate for the material.
(1) Use Recommended Parameters:
If your material has preset parameters in the LDS Material Library, use these recommended settings first.
(2) Manual Tuning:
If no recommended parameters exist, try the following adjustments:
- Increase Power
- Reduce Speed
- Increase the Number of Passes
(3) Enable "Lower the Focus" Function:
For materials thicker than 6 mm, enabling the "Lower the Focus" function improves cutting quality.
Reference guide: How to Use the Focal Point Shift Function on LX2.
(4) Test on Different Materials:
Test the same set of parameters on different materials (e.g., cardboard, bamboo).
- If cutting works normally, the issue may be material-specific.
- If the problem persists across materials, continue with the next troubleshooting steps.
2. Check the Laser Protective Lens
Purpose: Ensure the laser beam is not scattered, maintaining proper power density for cutting.
(1) Cleaning:
A dirty lens reduces cutting efficiency. Clean the protective lens according to the guide: Clean the LX2 Air Nozzle & Protective Lens.
(2) Replacement:
If the lens is cracked or has permanent stains, replace it immediately.
(A spare protective lens is provided in the LX2 toolkit.)
3. Turn On Air Assist
Purpose: Ensure proper smoke removal and cutting quality, especially for thicker or harder materials.
Operation:
Ensure the Air Assist is powered on before cutting.
- Auto Mode: Adjusts airflow automatically.
- Manual Mode: Provides direct control over airflow.
Reference guide: Using Air Assist with LX2.
4. Use Cutting Slats
Purpose: Support material and improve cut quality by allowing smoke and debris to escape.
(1) Installation:
Insert cutting slats into the slots on the front and rear frames of the LX2.
(2) Adjustment:
Slat spacing can be adjusted according to material thickness.
(3) Included in Package:
Standard LX2 includes 4 slats. Additional slats can be purchased separately if needed.
