Bluetooth Connection Failure - Troubleshooting

This article addresses Bluetooth connection issues with the LP1, LP2, LP3, LP4, LX1, and LX1 Max.

1. Bluetooth Connection Settings

Follow the steps below to begin troubleshooting Bluetooth connection issues.

LDS App Users:

  1. Power up your LP1, LP2, LP3,LP4, LX1, or LX1 Max.
  2. Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device (phone or tablet).
  3. Open the latest version of the LDS App.
  4. Click the ⚙️ icon in the top right corner of the app to open the "Connect devices" pop-up window. The app will search for and automatically pair with your device.

LDS Software Users:

  1. Power up your LP2, LP3,LP4, LX1, or LX1 Max.
  2. Ensure that the Bluetooth driver is installed.
  3. Plug the LaserPecker Bluetooth Dongle into the USB A port on your desktop or laptop. (Use a USB-A to USB-C adapter if necessary)
  4. Open the latest version of the LDS Software.
  5. Click "Connect the device" in the upper right corner of the interface to open the "Connect devices" pop-up window. Select "Bluetooth" to automatically pair with your LP2, LP3, LP4, LX1, or LX1 Max.

The LP1 only supports wireless connection to mobile devices and not to desktop computers.

2. Bluetooth Connection Failure

1. Bluetooth signals have a limited range. A distance of 1~3 meters is required to connect the LDS App or LDS Software to the Laser Unit.
2. To establish a Bluetooth connection, the Laser Unit should be powered on and idle, which is indicated by a blinking blue light. Once connected, the blue light will stop blinking.

2.1 LDS App (Mobile Devices)

Follow the steps below when experiencing Bluetooth connection failures with the LDS App.

  • Restart both the mobile device and the LDS App.
  • Check that you are using the latest version of the App. If not, update the App to the latest version.
  • Check that the firmware is up to date. If not, upgrade the firmware to the latest version.
  • Avoid moving the device during preview and while in operation.
  • Trying connecting with a different mobile device to check for compatibility issues.
  • Replace the device's power adapter and all cables.

2.2 Bluetooth Connection Failure - LDS Software (Laptop or Desktop Computers)

Follow the steps below when experiencing Bluetooth connection failures with the LDS Software:

  • Power off the desktop computer, remove the Bluetooth Dongle, disconnect the power supply, reconnect the power supply, wait for 5 seconds, plug the dongle into the USB port, and then restart.
  • If a USB connection was used to connect previously, the Type-C cable must be removed or the Laser Unit will attempt to communicate with the computer via USB and the Bluetooth connection may fail.
  • Check that you are using the latest version of the LDS Software. If not, update the software to the latest version.
  • Check that the Laser Unit's firmware is up to date. If not, upgrade the firmware to the latest version.
  • Avoid moving the Laser Unit during preview and while in operation.
  • Replace the device's power adapter and all cables.
